In case of a disk crash, the system may flash some messages as indicated above; there can be only 2 scenario's that are possible:

LOGICAL PROBLEM

The logical problems can result due to logical corruption either in the boot sector/partition table, FAT, Root directory area, or Master File Tables in case of NTFS file system.

PHYSICAL PROBLEM

Head Disk Assembly (HAD) has crashed
HAD is sticking with the platters
Platters may have sustained some damage
PCB has burned out

Causes of Disk Failures:

Accidental file deletion, improper system shutdown or sometimes as just a "Hard Disk Format"
In some other cases system file deletion or corruption, System Malfunction or Hardware Error.
Virus attacks are still one of the main concerns that can result in data loss.
Employee's sabotage is also a concern, a minor one though.
Electronics' failures due to flood, fire, lightning, and power surges etc are just some unavoidable causes.
If you suspect a disk crash,
